This decision also concerns local associations that want to have a medium-sized hall for contemporary music concerts.
The 2007 edition started on March 17. On Monday, May 7 at 7:30 PM, the General Council presents Naast, four new “bad boys” in the scene, and Plastiscines, the female alter egos of Naast. They are on average eighteen years old, and these two electrified baby rock bands want to revolutionize their rock sound for teenagers.
Naast: four new “bad boys” in the scene… Gustave, Nicolas, Clod, and Laka… Naast grabbed their guitars three years ago and have been making waves since 2006. The press is already fond of their bad boy antics that draw screams from their fans at every public appearance. At first glance, the four members of Naast look like many teenagers raised in the best institutions of Ile de France…
Cute and polite in their polished loafers. For them, The Sonics, The Stooges, The White Stripes, and The Libertines are no longer just posters in their teenage bedrooms: they are examples and sources of inspiration. Since their performance on stage at the Zรฉnith de Paris as the opening act for Wampas, and quite unintentionally, Naast has become the name of a movement that is proving its worth. In the capital, several rock critics or simple observers are beginning to be intrigued by this “baby rock” generation which is promised a bright future.
A wild, uncomplexed rock, which gets straight to the point and is neither bogged down by frills nor by second thoughts. “Antichambre,” their first album released in January 2007, consists of ten unequivocal outbursts, ten short and tense squirts reminiscent of “Mauvais garรงon,” the first single released as a scout at the start of summer, in which Gustave bellows with the same ferocity as his sixties garage-punk predecessors. Always followed by a small, stylish, and overexcited troupe, they are rejuvenating rock’n’roll and will deliver a surprising show for “06 en Live.”
Plastiscines: the female alter egos of Naast… Zazie, Marie, Katty, and Louise… Coming from the rock yรฉ-yรฉ revival of the sixties and the bustling Paris scene, the Plastiscines, four young ladies born in the 1980s, offer us explosive pop songs, unapologetically, not trying to rediscover a sound but rather to create a new one.
Their meeting and start took place between high school and a Libertines concert. Passionate about rock’n’roll, their inspiration ranges from The Strokes to even The Beatles, to whom they also owe their band’s name. Evoking the voice of a tigress-mood Nancy Sinatra, or a Debbie Harry who might have joined the Pretenders, they deliver with elegance a high-heeled rock’n’roll, with torrid chic and will present their first album released in February 2007, “LP1.”
