National Sexual Health Week: Here is the program in Nice

Latest News

The Alpes-Maritimes Department launches the National Sexual Health Week in Nice. From June 5 to 9, local stakeholders plan awareness, information, and screening actions.

Information stands, exchange workshops, open house evening, health village—it’s how the Maralpin territory tackles the topic of sexual health. This national initiative is part of the roadmap of the national sexual health strategy 2021-2024. The aim of this week is to talk about consent, promote contraception, and raise awareness and provide information about sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It is also an opportunity to inform the public about existing sexual diseases and dysfunctions.

In Nice, and its surroundings, local stakeholders offer tailored activities for diverse audiences: students, professionals, the LGBTQIA+ community, vulnerable people, and the general public. The detailed program of various interventions in the Alpes-Maritimes, as well as in the Var-east territory, is available here.

HIV: Where to Get Tested in Nice

Until 5 p.m., on Monday, June 5, a health village set up at the Lingostière shopping center allows for public testing. The national intervention team on prevention and health (ENIPSE) will conduct an HIV screening campaign this week using what are known as TROD tests. These are rapid diagnostic orientation tests, capable of providing a result in a maximum of thirty minutes.

Teams will be present on Tuesday, June 6, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Mont Boron. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. meetings are scheduled at the GI Sex Shop. On Wednesday, June 7, they will be set up at the Nice LGBTQIA+ center from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Thursday, June 8, CeGIDD 06 welcomes the public from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Finally, on Friday, June 9, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., the ENIPSE teams will offer testing in the heart of the nightlife at a gay bar for men, Le Code.

Interventions for STI screening and information are also taking place at the Nice detention center this week.

Distribution of 25,000 Anti-Drug Lids

The launch of this national sexual health week in Nice was an opportunity to present the “Sortez Couvercle” initiative. To combat the scourge of the date rape drug or GHB, the Department plans to distribute 25,000 anti-intrusion and anti-drug lids. These drink covers are primarily intended for bars and student associations.

Since July 2022, CeGIDD has already been distributing these “glass condoms”. The principle is to protect one’s drink at parties or public events using a patented tool. The aim is to prevent being unknowingly drugged by the insertion of an illicit substance. Such substances, when dealing with drugs like GHB, can cause amnesia and loss of physical and psychological control for the victim. A situation that can lead to various acts of sexual assault or rape.
