A new direct airline route connecting Philadelphia and Nice was launched last week by American Airlines.
Tuesday, May 7, 2024 marked an important milestone for the French Riviera with the inaugural flight connecting Philadelphia to Nice. This new air route represents an opportunity for the South of France region, becoming the only region in the country, outside of Paris and the French Caribbean, to be served directly from the United States, with direct flights from New York, Atlanta, and now Philadelphia.
“This is very good news that will further enhance our visibility in the American market and the attractiveness of the South Region,” stated Renaud Muselier, president of the South Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region. “This new Philadelphia-Nice connection presents a significant opportunity both economically and touristically. Pennsylvania’s metropolis is a true strategic hub, facilitating exchanges for entrepreneurs and business travelers.”
Nice, second tourist destination in France
Nice Côte d’Azur, the second tourist destination in France after Paris, attracts approximately 6.5 million visitors each year, 5 million of whom visit Nice. Rudy Salles, deputy president of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Tourist Office, welcomes this new connection, highlighting that it strengthens the region’s appeal as a gateway from the United States.
This expansion of connections to the United States offers more opportunities for American travelers to discover the famous lifestyle, heritage, and shopping of the French Riviera. With now five direct connections each week, travelers can fully enjoy everything the region has to offer.
