“New team and new momentum for la Capelina d’Or”

A few months after the passing of their iconic president, Mrs. Renée Graglia, the members of the Cercle de la Capelina d’Or gathered yesterday at the Paul Augier Hotel School for an extraordinary general meeting to elect the new board of directors for “La Capelina.”

A hundred people, both members and guests, responded to the invitation from Jean Giachino, who took over the reins of the association following the president’s passing. The treasurer of the association, Louis Graglia, presented a financial review, and a moving tribute was paid to the one who was greatly missed at this meeting.

However, as they say in life and in cooking, life goes on, and it was now time to elect the 15 members who would make up the new Board of Directors of La Capelina d’Or. To do this, a ballot was presented which included 17 names with only one requirement: Circle the name of the intended President and cross out no more than two names from the list. In total, 108 voters participated in the vote, including proxies for absent individuals, resulting in a final list of 15 members (see below) who will make up the new board that will meet next Saturday to elect its new President. Barring any surprises, it is expected that Franck Bermond (Chef, cooking professor at Greta, and Disciple of Auguste Escoffier) will take the lead, accompanied by veterans like Jean Giachino and Eliane Vissian, as well as new recruits, two of whom are notably Russian and American. That’s the essence of Niçoise cuisine!

With the agenda and elections concluded, focus shifted to the projects of the Capelina d’Or, whose activities will resume in the coming weeks with traditional cooking classes, competitions, and other events (Agecotel, student competitions, Annual Gala…). There is certainly a lot to tackle for this new team entrusted with preserving and promoting one of the greatest treasures of Niçoise heritage: its cuisine!
