This Monday, Margot Chevrier started her world championship with the women’s pole vault qualifications. After three failures at 4.60 meters, she leaves the competition prematurely and will not compete in the final on Thursday evening. A terrible disappointment for the Nice native.
The big day for Margot Chevrier. The Nice native entered her competition this Monday evening, with the women’s pole vault qualifications. The young woman is part of the four Azuréens participating in the world athletics championships. As a reminder, to qualify and participate in the final, you must be among the top twelve pole vaulters.
The French champion began her competition at 4.35 meters. After a first scare on her first attempt, she easily cleared this bar on the second try. Margot Chevrier experienced another failure on her first jump at 4.50 meters. Again, the Nice native cleared on her second attempt in front of a full stadium in Budapest.
Struggling with her jumps
At this point in the competition, Margot Chevrier is virtually eliminated. She is the thirteenth pole vaulter to clear 4.50 meters. She has no choice and must clear an additional bar. As has been the case since the start of the qualifications, the Nice native fails on her first attempt at 4.60 meters, and also on her second try in quick succession at this height.
Margot Chevrier also misses her last attempt at 4.60 meters. A bar far from her best performance this year set at 4.71 meters, her personal record. A terrible disappointment for the Nice native who will not participate in her second world final here in Budapest.
