The Nice Eagles faced the Rouen Dragons at home this Tuesday. The outcome of the match is commendable for our Eaglets.
After their crushing defeat last week against the Rouen Dragons, the Nice Eagles were up against the favorites at home tonight for the 3rd playoff match.
In the first third period, the start of the match is surprising for the Nice Eagles. Rouen quickly commits a foul, reducing their numbers to four against the Eaglets. Nice also commits a foul, leaving both teams with five players each after Marc André Lévesque is sidelined. Ultimately, it is the Nice team that scores the first goal of this third period by Norbert Abramov. This first part of the match ends with the Nice Eagles having the advantage. The beginnings of a tense end to the match for both sides.
The Nice Eagles struggle to get back on track
In this second third period, we find our Eaglets confident due to the lead obtained in the first period. But the Rouen players come back strong by equalizing a few minutes after the restart of the match. Nice tires in this second period and ends up being dominated by the Dragons. The second third period ends with an advantage for Rouen, leading (2-1).
In the last third period, the debates are balanced. But the Nice team bounces back by scoring the second goal of the evening by Norbert Abramov. The third goal soon follows for our Eaglets, scored by Lucas Villain five minutes before the end of the match. Two timeouts are granted to both teams at the end of the match. Upon resumption, the Dragons manage to equalize 15 seconds before the end.
The match then continues into overtime. The referees decide on a ten-minute overtime, three against three. Norbert Abramov scores his third goal of the evening at the start of this overtime. The Nice Eagles emerge victorious from the match (4-3).
