Focus on the mental health of seniors and bipolar disorder
Seniors are at the heart of the programming in Nice. On Tuesday, October 10 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Maison des Associations Garibaldi, a conference titled โAging Wellโ led by mental health professionals will aim to demystify these issues that may also exist in the lives of our elders in order to better support them.
In this vein, a moment of debate and exchange around the theme โI am a senior, my mental health is a right!โ is scheduled for Thursday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Nice Municipal Office for Seniors and from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alfred Hart Library, and on Friday, October 13, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Cimiez Library.
Two events also offer to explore what bipolar disorder really is, a mental illness still subject to many clichรฉs and misconceptions. This chronic mental illness affects between 1 and 2.5% of the population, which is between 650,000 and 1,650,000 people in France.
A public reading of excerpts from the book โEspoirsโ written by members of the local Nice association โLe phare des 2 pรดlesโ is organized on Thursday, October 12, at the Moulins Social Center and on Friday, October 13, at the Village Social Center, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. It will be followed by discussions, offering an opportunity to hear testimonies and listen to individuals affected by this disorder.
On Thursday, October 19, the theater performance โDes hauts et des basโ will present scenes from the daily life of a person suffering from bipolar disorders, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the La Ruche Social Center.
