When itโs Wednesday, itโs cinema. Today, we bring you our selection of films for the week, to guide you through the dark rooms.
1. Mission: Impossible โ The Final Reckoning โ Christopher McQuarrie
The curtain falls on one of the most spectacular action movie sagas. Tom Cruise delivers a final hurrah, after Dead Reckoning, in an explosive, breathtaking opus where emotion mixes with incredible stunts. A true love letter to grand spectacle, energetically directed by McQuarrie, who remains constant in his role.
After narrowly escaping a train disaster, agent Ethan Hunt discovers that “The Entity,” a rogue artificial intelligence, is hidden aboard an old Russian submarine. Accompanied by his IMF team, he must locate and neutralize this threat before it falls into the wrong hands. This film is presented out of competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
2. Lilo & Stitch โ Dean Fleischer Camp
Disney reinvents its 2002 classic in live-action. True to the wacky spirit of the original, this live version offers a cocktail of emotion, surfing, and child-sized extraterrestrial chaos. Maia Kealoha portrays an adorable Lilo, and Stitch remains as uncontrollable as he is lovable.
The touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and a runaway alien who helps her mend her broken family.
3. Young Mothers โ Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne
The Dardenne brothers focus their camera on a fragile and invisible motherhood: that of very young women adrift, faced with impossible choices. Sober, humanistic, and poignant, this new social drama confirms their sharp eye on contemporary precariousness.
Jessica, Perla, Julie, Ariane, and Naรฏma are housed in a maternity home that helps them in their new lives as young mothers. Five teenagers who hope for a better life for themselves and their children.
4. Ollie โ Antoine Besse
The director of Sleepless Nights (2013) presents a sensitive and free approach to adolescence and the passion for skateboarding. Ollie captures with precision the aimlessness of provincial youth, the strength of friendships, and the visceral need to escape. A delightful surprise.
At 13, Pierre moves back to his father’s farm after his mother’s sudden death. Bullied at school, he finds solace in his passion: skateboarding. He meets Bertrand, an outcast hiding a past as a former skater, who takes him under his wing. Together, they strive to rebuild their lives.
5. The Cursed Ones โ Pedro Martin-Calero
A baroque and captivating horror thriller drawing from Spanish folklore. Combining witchcraft, betrayed femininity, and vengeance, The Cursed Ones presents sumptuous staging and guaranteed chills. An atmosphere reminiscent of The Witch or Suspiria.
Something haunts Andrea, but no one, not even she, can see it with the naked eye. Twenty years ago, ten thousand kilometers away, the same presence terrorized Marie. Camila was the only one who could understand what was happening, but no one believed them. Faced with this oppressive threat, all three hear the same overwhelming sound: a scream.
