Following the severe weather on the coast, Christian Estrosi has requested that Gerald Darmanin classify the city of Nice as having natural disaster status.
The recent bad weather that hit the French Riviera has raised questions about the status that should be assigned to it. This is why Christian Estrosi is making the request to the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Gerald Darmanin, to classify Nice as a victim of a natural disaster.
Indeed, it was a record rainfall that struck the capital of the Côte d’Azur. The 119 mm of rain on Monday caused landslides and landslips in various neighborhoods of Nice.
The emergency services are mobilized
Many agents are still mobilized today to deal with this phenomenon of land movement, which includes subsidence and collapses, landslides and falls of stone or rock blocks, and slides. There are also floods from mudflows that are putting municipal and metropolitan agents in great difficulty.
This is why the mayor is making this request for natural disaster victim status. He also insisted that “Niçois victims of a landslide or rockfall, or any other natural event, should contact our major risks department.” To get in contact, simply reach out to the following address risques.majeurs@ville-nice.fr with information regarding the damage suffered (address, description, photos, contact).
