This Europe Day is celebrated every year on May 9th. This year, the celebration is all the more important and symbolic because France holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first time in 14 years.
To celebrate the French Presidency of the European Union, the city of Nice has been offering, since January 1, 2022, a special program in the colors of Europe.
60 festive and educational events are planned for all citizens, from the oldest to the youngest.
Here is the program for this Europe Day:
From 10 a.m.: Euro-Toques come to Paul Augier High School – 163 bd René Cassin
With the presence of Laurence Navalesi, Municipal Councilor sub-delegated to Cross-border Relations, Private Education, and Worship.
Presentation to the students of the Euro-Toques association, which works to safeguard and promote quality food products within its European network of chefs, a master class with Michelin-starred chef Virginie Basselot, followed by a lunch prepared by the students with the help of Euro-Toques chefs.
12 p.m.: Launch of the European menu week in Nice schools – Terra Amata Elementary School – 2 Corniche André de Joly
With the presence of Jean-Luc Gagliolo, Deputy Mayor of Nice responsible for Education, Books, Fight against Illiteracy, and Nice Identity.
2:30 p.m.: Workshop by the European association “Model European Union Côte d’Azur” – L’Artistique Theater – 27 bd Dubouchage
A simulation of the voting process within the European Union will be offered to allow young people to step into the shoes of a European deputy, a minister of a member state, an interpreter, or even a journalist! The main objective of the project is to introduce European institutions and their functioning and prepare participants for their real-life intervention, in Strasbourg in November 2022.
5 p.m.: Inauguration of the Europe and Youth Exhibition – Music pavilion – Place Jacques Cotta.
With the presence of Graig Monetti, Deputy Mayor responsible for Youth, Social Cohesion, and Professional Integration.
This exhibition showcases major European initiatives for young people: unbeatable train travel prices, portals for finding internship and training offers in Europe, the Erasmus + program, the European Voluntary Service… On each panel of the exhibition, QR codes link to dedicated pages.
From 6:30 p.m.: Tchoup celebrates Europe – Stockfish – 5 avenue François Mitterrand
