This year again, the Prefectoral Palace located in the heart of the old town will host 20 new medalists in gold, silver, and bronze. From archery to fencing, and from athletics to pétanque, the sports of Nice will celebrate their new champions from a very exceptional vintage of 2007. The only small downside this year of the Rugby World Cup in France is the absence of a rugby medalist.
It is well known, the sports scene in Nice, like its national counterpart, would not be what it is and will not become what it is going to be without the daily assistance of leaders, most often volunteers, who give their time and sometimes their money to ensure that sports education is properly offered to young talents as well as to great athletes.
Jean-Claude Mari, Deputy Mayor in charge of sports, and the Prefect of the Alpes Maritimes, Dominique Vian, will present the awards to the necks of the winners.
Congratulations to these new medalists for their selflessness and courage.
