In the most significant municipalities of the Metropolis, the surprise came from Saint-Laurent where the outgoing mayor Henri Revel failed to secure his fourth election. He was severely defeated by a dissident from the same party who had merged his list with a former deputy of the outgoing mayor.
Final result: The residents of Saint-Laurent have decided to turn the page. With 41.54% of the votes, Joseph Ségura (registered UMP, but not supported by the party) leads Henri Revel, the outgoing mayor supported by the UMP, who totaled 36% of the vote.
The other sensitive municipality was Villefranche-sur-Mer: There too, the list of the 1st deputy, Jean-Pierre Mangiapan, had merged with that of Cédric Cirasa, also a former member of the outgoing team, even though he went into dissidence, but the alliance did not work and the surgeon Christophe Trojani, particularly supported by the president of the General Council, Eric Ciotti, finally won with a clear score of 54.8%.
An exciting duel full of suspense took place in La Trinité where Ladislas Polski (MRC/PS) also supported by the Communist Party was on the verge of taking the mayor’s office from the UDI candidate and former 1st deputy: Finally, it’s Jean-Paul Dalmasso who clinched victory with a margin of 170 votes: 45.99 against 42.52%.
For Polski, it was a great opportunity especially since the FN candidate, Alexandre Mascagni, obtained one of the most modest scores of all the municipalities where his party’s candidates remained in a three-way race.
All these people will meet again, in a few days, in the metropolitan assembly…
