Nice, Italian capital of the French Riviera!

Latest News

With nearly 30,000 Italians or those of Italian descent settled in the Nice region, the transalpine community enjoys gathering within the various associations and institutions that serve as links between the host land and their country of origin. With a Consulate located on Boulevard Gambetta and its affiliated bodies such as the Comites or the Coalcit, individuals have access to a resource and information center, while businesses and professionals can find support at the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Nice. Thus, the terrain is not unknown in the Nice area for well-organized Transalpines.

On December 20, it is the Comites that is organizing a guided tour of the famous Russian church in collaboration with the neighborhood committee of Parc Impérial (confirmation: comites-nice@wanadoo.fr or 04 92 15 15 20). Immediately following at 6 pm, the Italian Circulo Giuseppe Garibaldi organizes its “panettonata” (panettone evening) at the premises of the Comites located at 5 Boulevard du Parc Impérial.

On the professional side, the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Nice is organizing its “Vivere a Grasse” expo from December 5 to December 7, in anticipation of the delightful “Pain, Amour et Chocolat” expo that will take place in Antibes from February 13 to February 15, 2009.

In short, Italian life continues in Nice and it is almost regrettable that a “Casa Italia” (House of Italy) has not been established in the heart of one of the most Transalpine cities in France.
