For a tourist city like Nice, the second destination for foreigners in France after Paris, event policy is not only essential but indispensable to maintain its appeal and as a source of income.
Moreover, since the law on local authorities assigned the Metropolis the responsibility for international economic promotion, this commitment must represent a real strike force against increasingly experienced competition.
Thus, a new label “Nice Live” brings together, starting this year, all the programming, either managed or in partnership, for the summer.
For Rudy Salles, deputy for international relations and tourism, this rich and intense program “is an opportunity during the summer festivities to showcase our city and satisfy visitors and also the citizens of Nice.”
These statements are confirmed by the Mayor of Nice and President of the Metropolis, Christian Estrosi, who reiterated his strategy: “Nice wants to diversify its economic activity, but the event policy is a useful pillar both for the territorial attractiveness and for the hotel and commercial economy, which shows an increase of 6/7% despite the gloomy economic context.”
To this end, from 2008 to this year, the number of events has increased from 130 to approximately 1200!!!
