Latest News

This Friday, September 29th at 8 PM at the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Opera, Gyรถrgy Rรกth, the new Music Director of the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, will kick off the 70th anniversary of the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra with a commissioned work by Norwegian composer Martin Romberg.

Romberg has created numerous works based on the universe of J.R.R. Tolkien. He seeks to highlight both the most serious and profound aspects of this literature and to connect certain aspects of popular culture with classical music.

The celebration of this anniversary will continue throughout the season, during which the orchestra will host some of the biggest names in music, starting with the concert on September 29th and 30th featuring cellist Enrico Dindo, who will offer his interpretation of Shostakovich’s Concerto. This piece, which requires tightrope-walking skills due to its technical difficulty, is sure to captivate the audience.

Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony, the testament of the Russian music giant, will resonate under the baton of Gyรถrgy Rรกth, the new musical director of the Nice ensemble. This last masterpiece has gone down in history under the name of Pathรฉtique, a subtitle given by Modest Tchaikovsky, the composer’s brother, due to the troubled nature of the work.

It should be noted that this concert will begin with a flourish composed by Georges Gondard to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra.
