Nice Rugby falls to Romans before hosting Châteaurenard.

Despite two penalties by Malavard (17th and 33rd minutes), the score was steep at halftime: 21-11. Against the wind, the conquest was much better afterward, without, however, managing to capitalize. Nonetheless, a try was disallowed at the very end of the match.

Coach Manu Boutet’s reaction: “It’s a disappointment. We came to Romans to achieve a result. In the first period, with the wind, we struggled a lot. We played backwards in our kicking territory. After the break, we managed to win some lineout balls. We were better thanks to our rolling mauls. Unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalize. We made too many small mistakes (dropped balls, cleaning). So, it was challenging to string together phases of play. That was detrimental to us.”

The Nice team now has 15 days to heal their wounds and bounce back from their match against Châteaurenard, on Saturday, October 16th at 7 PM at Stade des Arboras. This match will be followed by Nice-Lavaur on Sunday, October 24th at Stade des Arboras.

The Nice team lineup in Romans

Canizares (Guarese, 50), Hill (Faurois, 28), R. Sua Uipa (Kaikilokofe, 69) – Derrstroff (J. Sua, 58), Boukanoucha – Moxham (Cazaux, 69), Espagno, Mezencev (Ormea, 62) – Delmonte (Guerre, 40), Mc Hugh – Lapierre, Kacharava, Armitage, Roman (Mege, from the 57th to the 62nd minute due to bleeding) – Malavard

It should be noted that the B team also lost 21-20 against their Roman counterpart.
