On Saturday, April 9, Eugรจne Sassone, the GSEM athletics coach, in partnership with the city of Nice, is organizing a sports event to support Japan: you are invited to cover a distance of 1000 meters on the Promenade des Anglais, either by running or walking (sport walking or race walking).
Various distances are offered to allow children and beginners to participate: 50 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 500 meters, and 1000 meters.
Demonstrations of athletics, mountain biking, gymnastics, rollerblading, triathlon, and other combat sports will liven up the day.
A minimum symbolic fee of one euro will be requested from each participant. The funds collected will be donated to a charity organization that assists the victims in Japan.
On Sunday, April 10, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., a charity sale in aid of the victims is also organized. The Japanese community of the Azure region is holding a garage sale throughout the day at Place Massรฉna.
