The Laundry Service of the Nice University Hospital (CHU de Nice) has equipped itself with a second washing tunnel measuring 10 meters long and weighing 18 tons to process its 10 tons of laundry per day. A water saving of 45 m³/day.
Replacing the four washing machines from 1988 was mandatory. Therefore, the Department of Hospitality, Purchases, and Logistics selected equipment offering the best possible environmental characteristics currently available on the market, in terms of water, energy and chemical consumption, as well as noise (a 20 dB(A) reduction).
Thanks to a “revolutionary” laundry rinsing technology, water consumption has significantly decreased from 20 liters/kg to 4.5 liters/kg of washed laundry. The daily savings amount to approximately 45 m³ per day and an overall reduction of 36% in the Laundry Service’s consumption. The purchase cost of this tunnel is fully offset by the water savings, making it an exemplary investment operation.
