Nice will host the third school in France of the Ecole 42 network, founded by the entrepreneur Xavier Niel, known for being the founder and principal shareholder of Iliad, the company behind the mobile operator Free.
This self-taught billionaire is also an investor in many ventures, particularly in the digital sector, including development of education and entrepreneurship.
Recently, he became the owner of the Nice-Matin press group.
Launched in 2013 in Paris, this initiative offers everyone access to a high-level coding school, free of charge without a diploma and without age limit.
The “42 Network,” which already established itself in Fremont (Silicon Valley), has recently launched internationally with 29 campuses in 2020, located in Belgium, Morocco, Finland, the Netherlands, Russia, Brazil, Armenia, Japan, Spain, Canada, Italy, Portugal, Thailand, Germany, Jordan, Malaysia, Australia, Abu Dhabi.
After Paris and Lyon, a third school will therefore open in Nice this year.
The innovative pedagogy proposed by 42 is based on “Peer-to-Peer” learning. It involves a participative, innovative education tailored to the digital sector, without lectures or teachers. Students are responsible for their own success as well as that of their peers, around a 100% practical project-based curriculum (Collective Intelligence) in the heart of modern and welcoming workspaces, open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Why 42?
The name “42” is a nod to the “geek” universe, as it refers to the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything else in Douglas Adams’ book The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
