Nide Volleyball: Time to Take Stock

Latest News

After an excellent season in Ligue B, culminating in promotion to Ligue A, the Nice Volley Ball held its general assembly this Wednesday evening. It was an opportunity to review the past season and discuss the future, particularly for the training center and the professional team.

This Wednesday evening, the president of Nice Volley Ball, Alain Griguer, presented the sports and financial report of the 2015/2016 season, which ended with a promotion to the elite for the professional team. A review was conducted on all teams: the training center, youth, and professionals.

Two pieces of good news were also announced. The first concerns the renewal of the ministerial approval for the training center. The second is the Nice Volley Ball’s promotion to Ligue A, validated by the Commission for Aid and Control of Professional Clubs (CACCP).

Staying in Ligue A, a priority objective

During this general assembly, the city of Nice renewed its support for the club and elite sports in Nice in general. On its side, the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region, with the arrival of Christian Estrosi at its head, will make more efforts towards sports in Nice and thus towards the club. Alexandre Binet, the club’s communications manager, stated that “nothing concrete was announced this evening regarding a possible regional subsidy, and the city’s support will be slightly improved if needed“.

In terms of sports, several things were discussed, including the confirmation of Mladen Kasic as the head of the professional team. On the field, the number one objective will obviously be staying in Ligue A.

Changes in the lineup

In terms of the lineup, movements are expected. Five players are announced to be leaving: setters Corentin Suc and Raphaël Corre, middle blocker Nemanja Cubrilo, opposite hitter Srdan Ristic, and outside hitter Florian Beclin.

In terms of arrivals, two setters, Rusmir Halilovic and the coach’s son, Fran Kasic, will strengthen NVB. Two middle blockers, Philippe Tuitoga and Gojko Cuk, are also joining the club, along with opposite hitter Hermans Egleskalns.

According to Alexandre Binet, “1 or 2 more players are expected to sign by the end of the week. They play the position of outside hitter“. On their side, Jérôme Clere, outside hitter, and Mirko Radevic, middle blocker, are staying with the club. Libero Jelle Ribbens is extending his contract with Nice Volley Ball.
