OGC Nice travels to Lille at 5 PM to kick off the second half of their season.
Another penalty shootout lost and Nice was out of the Coupe de France on Monday at the Allianz Riviera. Goodbye to the Stade de France, which was still far away anyway, and perhaps hello to a successful second half of the season in Ligue 1.
Because Nice now only has the championship to play for. A blessing in disguise, likely, even if the Aiglons’ squad will be able to rely on the returns of Plรฉa and Le Bihan in the coming weeks.
However, to secure a European spot at the end of the season, Nice will need to rack up victories. Against a Lille that has improved significantly since Antonetti’s arrival, the task will be challenging.
Nevertheless, Nice has never faltered in the north in recent years. Since the 2006-2007 season, the Gym has never been defeated. Lille hasn’t even managed to score a single goal in the last three encounters on its home turf.
