Injured on Saturday against Le Mans, Antoine Mendy underwent tests on Sunday. The OGC Nice defender is suffering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be absent for several months.
The match between OGC Nice and Le Mans, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday at the Allianz Riviera, left its mark on the Nice squad. Coming on with a quarter of an hour remaining, Antoine Mendy was injured after a bad landing on contact. The player had nevertheless not left his teammates before the final whistle.

Despite this, medical tests carried out on Sunday confirmed the severity of the injury. The 22-year-old defender is suffering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. An absence of several months is looming for the player trained at OGC Nice.
This injury is another blow for the Gym, which must already deal with several absences in its squad.
No return before March for Antoine Mendy
Trained at OGC Nice, Antoine Mendy progressed through the club’s various age groups before joining the professional team. The defender thus went through the academy stages before wearing the red and black shirt at the highest level.
The injury comes at a time when the player had established himself in the Nice squad rotation. Recovery will now require time and appropriate medical follow-up.
OGC Nice has sent a message of support to its defender, recalling the bond built over several years between the player and the club: “Teammates, staff, employees and supporters will support Antoine Mendy during this period.”
Nice’s defensive sector is already facing other physical problems. Moïse Bombito also needs to undergo another operation on his left tibia following persistent pain related to a fracture that occurred in Monaco on October 5th.
Laurent Abergel, OGC Nice’s leading summer signing, is also experiencing a lengthy absence. The midfielder is suffering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, sustained during a friendly match against Cagliari. An operation was being considered, with a possible absence of around six months.
With Antoine Mendy, OGC Nice thus sees another player joining the infirmary for several months. The Nice staff will have to cope with these absences as the Ligue 1 season continues.
