Transport: what’s new on the Lignes d’Azur network for the 2026 back-to-school season?

Since August 31, several Lignes d’Azur lines have changed schedules or routes to accommodate the 2026 back-to-school season in the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis. Here’s a summary of all the changes.

The 2026 back-to-school season brings several adjustments to the Lignes d’Azur network. Since Monday, August 31, certain lines have benefited from increased service. New stops have also been created in several municipalities of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.

These changes are designed to meet needs related to school attendance and on-the-ground realities. Part of the network now operates according to winter schedules.

Reinforced lines, new stops and returns to service

Line 8+ is reinforced Monday to Friday as well as on Sunday. Line 19 also benefits from increased service Monday to Friday.

Several new stops are being introduced. On line 57, a “Cagnoli” stop is created on Boulevard de Cessole in both directions, between “Cyrnos” and “Deux Avenues”.

In Roubion, the on-demand lines C32 now serve the new Villars district with two new stops, “Vautes” and “Praréon”. In Vence, the Cœur de Vence 3 shuttle and the on-demand line C3 serve a new stop “Provence/Joffre”.

Lines 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8+, 9, 10, 11, 12+, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 30, 31, 32, 33, 35, 36, 37, 38, 41, 50, 51, 57, 63, 64, 70, 75, 81, 88, 90, 91, 92, 93, 97, 98 and 99 switch to winter schedules. The Cœur de Vence 2 shuttle is also affected.

Lines EXP3 and 66 are returned to service. Adjustments also affect certain departures. On line 33, the first departures from “Boyer” to Col de Villefranche start at 5:50 AM. A departure is scheduled for 6 AM from Col de Villefranche to Matisse school. Line C36 is adapted to facilitate connection with line 91.

Since Tuesday, September 1, lines 33S, 39, 67, 75D, 77, 85, 86, 744, 745, C, K, R1, R2, R3 and V have also resumed service. Lines 741 and 742 were returned to circulation on Wednesday, September 2. Line 743 resumed on Friday, September 4.

Free transport for over 65s comes into effect

The 2026 back-to-school season also occurs in a particular context for metropolitan transport. Free public transport for residents over 65 came into effect on September 1 in the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis. The measure was among Éric Ciotti’s campaign promises.

Present at the Nice Municipal Office for Seniors on Rue Gioffredo, the Mayor of Nice was accompanied by Bertrand Gasiglia, president of the Lignes d’Azur Management, to support a measure presented as a measure in favor of purchasing power and intergenerational solidarity.

Since registration opened on July 10, 24,000 subscriptions have been taken out. To benefit from free travel, eligible residents must apply to Lignes d’Azur, either at an agency or online. After the file is validated, travel is free throughout the metropolitan network.

However, free travel does not eliminate all fees. A 15 euro file fee remains mandatory. An initial registration may incur an additional two euros for creating the named document. An online application also adds 2.80 euros in shipping fees.

Finally, the commercial service of Lignes d’Azur has been strengthened since July 10. Temporary agencies are open until September 27 to assist users with ticket purchases and inquiries. The customer relations center is open Monday to Saturday from 6 AM to 8:30 PM and Sunday from 7 AM to 8:30 PM.
