A pure product of the red and black training center, the 21-year-old goalkeeper continues his journey with OGC Nice.
Having arrived in 2016 at the Gym’s training center, Teddy Boulhendi gradually climbed the ranks to the professional team in the summer of 2019, where he holds the position of third goalkeeper in the squad. Although he has yet to play a match wearing the Nice jersey, the Algerian U21 international, who still has significant potential for development, has been rewarded by the club’s management for his exemplary mentality. The goalkeeper is now tied to OGC Nice until June 2025.
Florent Ghisolfi, the sports director of Les Aiglons, spoke about the reasons for this extension and the potential of the native of Martigues:
“Teddy is a goalkeeper with both great qualities and a good margin for progression. He is young with strong potential. He works hard every day, and his contract extension is the result of this relentless work. He knows very well where we want to go together. We rely on him, for the present and the future.”
Teddy Boulhendi also expressed his joy at the confidence the Nice board has shown in him and detailed his role within the azurean squad:
“The direction of the Gym has shown faith in me, and I am very happy and very proud… Being number 3 in the hierarchy is not an obvious status, but the club’s confidence encourages me to stay here. The club is ambitious, and so am I, I identify 100% with the project. We are a team of friends, even outside of football. It is important. I try to connect people as much as possible. The goalkeepers, we are like brothers. I get along very well with Nico’ (Dehon, the goalkeeping coach), Kasper (Schmeichel), and Marcin (Bulka). I think we complement each other in our work. On the field, there is competition, but we try to push each other to our best. I think I am beneficial to them, as they are to me. I hope my first official game as a pro will come in Nice and that I will surpass the 10-year mark here. It’s a beautiful love story that, I hope, will continue for a very long time.”
