OGC Nice: three midfielders pushed towards the exit, a French hopeful arrives

Latest News

Since the beginning of this week, there’s been a lot of activity in Nice. Three players from Nice are expected to leave the club soon, while an agreement has been reached for a player already on their radar.

The OGC Nice transfer window finally seems to be gaining momentum! Since last weekend, several of the Gym’s targets have appeared in the press, but initially, several departures are set to be finalized.

Already announced a few days ago, the 3rd most expensive recruit in the club’s history, Danilo Barbosa, is leaving Nice for good. Undesired for over two years, he will be remembered as a massive flop. Already loaned to Palmeiras last year, he is returning to Brazil to join Botafogo. According to the Brazilian newspaper “Lance”, the midfielder will terminate his contract with Nice, which will still retain 50% of any future transfer involving the Brazilian.

Impressive during the preparation in Portugal, the young Alexis Trouillet might also pack his bags. At Wednesday’s public training session, the 21-year-old was absent. Loaned last year to Auxerre, where he made a strong impression, he is expected to leave the Gym again, possibly to rejoin his teammates from last season or to explore a new team. It would be surprising for the Gym to transfer Trouillet permanently, as he holds great potential; however, given the crowded sector, anything is possible.

Another midfielder is also being pushed out by the Azurian management. It’s Morgan Schneiderlin, who arrived from Everton two years ago. The club’s top earner alongside Kasper Dolberg, the defensive midfielder never really established himself on the Cรดte dโ€™Azur. According to a rumor, Montpellier might be interested in the former Manchester United player. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that the Gym will do everything possible to offload Schneiderlin.

With these three probable departures in the midfield, OGC Nice needs to prepare for a new arrival in the sector. The profile wanted by Lucien Favre and targeted by his management is that of a defensive midfield organizer with high potential. The player fitting this profile has been chosen, namely Alexis Beka Beka, who was already on the Gym’s radar a year ago. Close to joining Nice, he ultimately signed with Lokomotiv Moscow, but now wishes to return to France. According to Lโ€™Equipe, discussions to bring him in have intensified in recent hours. He joined Russia for 6 million euros and will leave the Moscow club for a minimum sum of 10 million.
