The Promenade des Anglais welcomes the No Finish Line for the first time. The city of Nice took the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone by integrating the “One Mile” (1.609 km), organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), into the No Finish Line course to celebrate World Running Day.
This non-timed, free event, open to everyone, takes place as a relay in 24 cities around the world: Tokyo, Melbourne, Beijing, London, Sao Paulo, Los Angeles… and Nice!
The ambitions of Mayor Christian Estrosi to make Nice an essential running destination are bearing fruit. Indeed, the inauguration of the “One Mile” was notably marked by the presence of Sebastian COE, former great British athlete and now President of the International Association of Athletics Federations, Stéphane DIAGANA (member of the athletes’ commission for the preparation of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and world champion of the 400 m hurdles in 1997) and finally Paula RADCLIFFE, former British athlete and marathon world record holder in 2003 in London.
Despite the downpours that hit the French Riviera, the runners managed to keep the joy and motivation to set off on the No Finish Line course.
Nearly 2,000 registrants then took off on the track.
