In collaboration with Accueil Femme Solidarité, “Entraide et Partage” has made available two emergency social apartments for women in danger. Known for its movements to aid disadvantaged families and the elderly, the association is thus widening its scope of action. Philippe Rossini, creator and president of the association, even makes it a priority.
Removed from their homes for protective measures, at their request or the request of social services, endangered women can now find refuge in Nice. A few months ago, Entraide et Partage acquired two housing units in the Riquier / Saint Roch neighborhood.
A tripartite participation enabled this new investment: “The General Council released €15,000, the parliamentary reserve from Jérôme Rivière contributed €7,600, and the rest was provided by the association’s own funds (donors, various events, sales…).
Located in a former back store, the apartments have been completely renovated. “They are now akin to types of F1 apartments.”
One year maximum
“You cannot reside there indefinitely,” clarifies Philippe Rossini. Alone or with their children, women in danger cannot occupy these reception apartments for more than one year. It is the DAASS that sets the Temporary Housing Allowance at 6 months, renewable once. The THA is intended for organizations that make housing available for social emergencies.
The association thus receives €500 per month for the two apartments. The THA allows disadvantaged women to have no expenses during the period of occupancy. However, for those who can afford it, “the contribution can reach reasonable sums.” During their stay, Entraide et Partage ensures that they respect the conditions of occupancy.
Once the criminal procedure is completed or the separation is final, the women rehouse themselves by their own means. “There is no better recognition.”
