Latest News

At the end of the week, the opening of the exhibition featuring works by artists from Nice involved in the Tour de France took place. The event was held at the emblematic venue, La Villa Masséna, in the presence of Robert Roux, Deputy Mayor for Culture, Marie-Claire Lellouche, Municipal Councillor of Nice, Jean-Marc Giaume, Delegate for Sports, and Jean-Pierre Barbero, Director of the venue.

For a few days now, the walls of Villa Masséna have been filled with colors. The works of the artists from Nice involved in the Tour de France are displayed there. From painting, drawing, and collage to frescoes, there is something to suit all tastes. However, the theme remains the same for everyone: the Grand Départ of the Tour de France. These works were also exhibited from August 27 to 31 along the Coulée Verte, in the center of Nice, in the form of reproductions.

Thanking the artists involved in the Grand Départ of the Tour de France

It was in the garden of Villa Masséna that Robert Roux, Deputy Mayor for Culture, took his place to deliver his thank you speech. “We are here because the Mayor, the Municipal Council, and I want to thank you for participating in this event we have just experienced, a unique event,” Robert Roux enthusiastically stated at the start of his speech. The artists from Nice present were thanked, as well as all the people who contributed to the smooth running of this event. An event whose organization was “very complicated this year,” he added.

The Happiness of the Artists

The artists were very pleased to have participated in this wonderful project and honored to be exhibited at Villa Masséna. This was especially true for painter ChrisTine, who has a studio in Villefranche-sur-mer and is originally from Nice. “It was a pleasant surprise to work on this project. The theme of cycling isn’t really my forte, but it was interesting to paint. I mixed inspirations from painter Matisse, like flowers, while adding touches to evoke the city of Nice, such as the eagle or the Negresco,” she said.
