Until June 2nd, the 24th edition of the Book Festival is taking place in the Albert 1er garden. This year, the selected theme is cinema, in celebration of the centenary of the legendary Victorine studios.
In 2019, nearly 200 writers will answer the call of the book being celebrated, under the presidency of the great director Jean-Jacques Annaud. Who better than an artist of the seventh art to illustrate the theme of this edition, in correspondence with the creation of the Victorine studios in 1919? An excellent idea to link these two artistic practices, film creation and book writing. The two mediums often complement and inspire each other.
As usual, the festival honors all genres and styles: comedy, drama, fantasy, science fiction, and horror. You will find novels, comics, biographies, historical accounts, philosophy books, poetry collections, political or scientific essays, etc.
Moreover, different activities are planned: meetings and signings, readings, performances, animations, and always as many debates. You will find big names among the artists present: Josiane Balasko, Christine Angot, David Foenkinos, Gilles Kepel, Michel Onfray, and many others.
