Last night marked the 29th Congress of the FAGE (Federation of General Student Associations) as a prelude to the three days of JAE (Annual Student Days) organized this week.

To inaugurate the opening plenary of this 29th annual Congress, organized by FACE 06, the Student House at the Campus of Saint-Jean d’Angely hosted a plethora of students and political, associative, and institutional representatives yesterday evening.

  • Sophie Raisin, Vice-President for University Life of ComUE UCA, Vice-President of the UNS Commission for Education and University Life โ€“
  • Philippe Pradal, Deputy Mayor
  • Dominique Marchand, President of CNOUS
  • Emmanuel Ethis, Rector of the Nice โ€“ Toulon Academy, Chancellor of the Universities
  • Louis Voisin, President of FACE 06, as well as Jimmy Losfeld, President of FAGE.

For an hour, the guests emphasized the emancipating, democratic, and civic purpose represented by this voluntary action introduced by FAGE. “Even if a deficit in civic engagement has been felt in recent years, you demonstrate that even though society is harsher, civic engagement allows things to progress (…) The DNA of your organization serves the general interest,” declared P. Pradal.

“We wish to recreate social ties and improve student life. This notably involves real estate, transportation, and the influence of certain areas. We will also implement, as part of the student plan, that scholarships will be distributed in advance and on fixed dates,” announced Dominique Marchand.

Emmanuel Ethis, who was highly applauded at the end of his speech, recalled that it is essential to build real autonomy for universities, which involves numerous partnerships, including the one established with CROUS.

Jimmy Losfeld concluded this very warm plenary session with a goal: “We have not finished fighting to shine a light on our ideas and values.”
This Congress will mark the end of his mandate.
