Opening of the lyrical season at the Nice Opera with Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” in a new production and co-production with the Puccini Festival of Torre del Lago. While the musical direction will be provided by conductor Alberto Veronesi, it will be the last staging by Paul-Emile Fourny for the Saint-François-de-Paule street establishment.
The Italian soprano Amarilli Nizza will perform the title role while the Hong Kong tenor Warren Mok will join her as the Chevalier Des Grieux. The Nice audience will undoubtedly be pleased to see baritone Jean-Luc Ballestra as Lescaut, a role he is familiar with, having already performed it in the 2008 production of Massenet’s “Manon” at the Nice Opera. The Choir and Ballet of the Nice Opera will also participate in this production.
Friday, September 25, Tuesday, September 29, and Thursday, October 1 at 8:00 PM. Sunday, September 27 at 2:30 PM.
