Latest News

For the second day of Paris-Nice, the riders set off from Thoiry for a flat stage of 179 km to Montargis.

The start of the second stage was given in Thoiry this Monday afternoon. From the first kilometers, there was a battle for the polka-dot jersey between the German, Jonas Rutsch (EF Education – EasyPost), and the Frenchman, Mathieu Burgaudeau (TotalEnergies). In the first challenge of the race, it was Jonas Rutsch who claimed the three points. Finally, Mathieu Burgaudeau managed to turn the tide by leading at the summit of the Côte de Villeconin. The Vendéen takes the lead in the mountain classification with 15 points, two more than Jonas Rutsch who thus loses his jersey.

In the last ten kilometers, the pace picked up as the sprint approached. Well led by his teammates, it was the Dutchman Arvid de Kleijn (Tudor) who won at the line ahead of Laurence Pithie (Groupama FDJ). The latter took the opportunity to snatch the yellow jersey from Olav Kooij, yesterday’s winner. Mathieu Burgaudeau was rewarded with the combativity prize in addition to his polka-dot jersey that he valiantly earned.
