The city of Nice has reduced the appointment wait time for obtaining identity documents to meet high demand by implementing several action plans.
Since emerging from the Covid-19 crisis, the year 2023 has seen a high demand for identity document renewals. This includes over 87,000 applications for both identity cards and passports.
To address this issue, the city of Nice has implemented several action plans:
- In 2022, an “Identity Documents” emergency plan was implemented from June to September. This plan included 12 biometric stations at each branch of the Nice city hall.
- The following year, they renewed the emergency plan experience. In 2023, from June to December, they implemented 15 counters equipped with biometric stations to facilitate administrative processes and reduce the wait time for identity documents.
Maintain the emergency plan to quickly deliver administrative processes in Nice
To ease the administrative processes for the residents of Nice and following the success of the past two years, the city of Nice has decided to extend its action plan. These measures are primarily available at the city hall branches, such as the Corvésy site, which has been redesigned to better cater to individuals. It will include:
- 15 counters dedicated to identity documents
- A counter specifically open for quick administrative processes without an appointment.
- Two counters reserved for the collection of identity documents.
- A call center with ten agents for appointment scheduling, available at 04 97 13 54 54.
- And 320 daily appointments, compared to 110 appointments previously.
Today, residents of the Côte d’Azur benefit from an average appointment wait time for an identity card or passport application of less than ten days, down from ten weeks in May 2023. Additionally, a maximum of three weeks for the issuance of identity documents.
