This 4-meter diameter fresco, which adorns the center of the square, depicts an eagle against a backdrop combining sea and hills. It is made of natural stones (marble, granite, travertine, or quartzite), which allows it to withstand weather and wear well.
“The Eagle of Pasteur” is the culmination of a project that involved some of the residents from the Pasteur and Bon Voyage neighborhoods. The drawings by Abdeljebar Rabha and Marie Keira, selected during a competition, served as the model. The fresco was then created by volunteer residents in collaboration with the Mosaïcités association.
The aim of this project was to engage Pasteur and Bon Voyage residents in actions to beautify their living environment and thus enable them to reclaim public space. A tribute to their meticulous work will be paid during this unveiling.
Eric Ciotti, First Deputy, will represent Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, at the unveiling of the mosaic fresco.
This operation was financed by the city of Nice for a total of 15,000 euros including taxes.
