Patrick Allemand reacts to the appointment of the Prefect of Alpes-Maritimes.

It is with astonishment that the 1st Vice-President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Regional Council discovered the appointment of Jean-Michel Drevet as Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes.

“This figure is well known to local elected officials since he was the secretary general of the prefecture in the late 1990s. He was primarily the chief of staff to Christian Estrosi at the Ministry of Regional Planning, and then at the Ministry of Industry. At a time when many sensitive issues are coming back to the forefront, notably the OIN and intercommunality, this closeness with the most powerful elected official in the department, for whom he was a subordinate, is not conducive to reassuring one about the State’s impartiality in accordance with the republican spirit that every citizen is entitled to expect.”

An appointment that does not seem to please the leader of the Nice opposition.
