Pink October 2020: A Screening Marathon for the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Latest News

From October 1 to October 31, 2020, a screening marathon will be held in honor of Pink October, an annual communication campaign aimed at breast cancer screening.

Each year, on the occasion of Pink October, the Regional Cancer Screening Coordination Center (CRCDC) SUD Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur launches awareness actions for organized breast cancer screening. For this year 2020, marked by the health crisis linked to the Coronavirus, a marathon will take place during the month of October.

This is a regional connected race with several objectives:

– Promote the regular practice of physical activity, thus contributing to reducing the risk of developing cancers, particularly breast cancer, which generally affects women aged 50 to 74.

– Adapt actions according to the health context and enable everyone to participate in a walk or a run, while being able to join a virtual team to achieve the highest number of kilometers for the benefit of the “Screening Marathon.”

– Thus federate the six departments that make up the CRCDC SUD Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

Participants will cover a distance of 5, 10, 21.1, or 42.2 km, in one or multiple sessions. To prevent all runners from gathering in the streets simultaneously, no specific day or time will be set.
