The fight against cancer is one of the top priorities of the health policy of the General Council, which supports the actions of the Alpes-Maritimes Committee of the League Against Cancer.
Eric Ciotti, Member of Parliament, President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, and Professor Maurice Schneider, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Committee of the League Against Cancer, signed a partnership agreement yesterday in the presence of Mr. Gérard Van Den Bulcke, Director of the Departmental Committee of the League Against Cancer.
Their partnership also enables the League to organize clinics within the eight Departmental Houses.
The League Against Cancer is a major player in the fight against cancer.
Among its many actions, the Committee opened in 2007 the first multidisciplinary day-care structure in France, intended for patients and their relatives: the Espace Ligue. Numerous free activities and services are offered to soothe and support patients: sophrology workshops, gymnastics, beauty care, reflexology, theater, and more.
For 20 years, the month of October has been dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. Organized by the National Cancer Institute, the “Pink October” campaign aims to inform about breast cancer and encourage women to get screened.
The General Council is in solidarity with Pink October 2014 through various actions such as awareness-raising for departmental agents; informational meetings for childcare providers; and the mobilization of the Health Info Bus for several prevention days.
