With a high turnout, the French have made their decision. The second round will pit Emmanuel Macron, who embodies the values of the Republic, against Marine Le Pen, the anti-European, xenophobic candidate with a dangerous economic program. It will be the clash between one who unites and one who divides.
After the second round, the French will have the opportunity to debate, choose, and engage with the main sovereign, economic, and social issues of national policy.
But for 15 days, the democrats of this country must focus on a single goal: to ensure that Emmanuel Macron wins by the widest possible margin.
In this way, the French people will have shown the entire world that they resist populism and demagoguery better than the British or the Americans.
