Presidential Election: 8 Proposals for a Mountain Plan and Enhancing the Attractiveness of Resorts

Latest News

The National Association of Mayors of Mountain Resorts (ANMSM), chaired by Charles-Ange Ginesy, has decided to engage in the presidential election debates and call on the candidates to launch a Mountain Plan through 8 key measures to enhance the attractiveness of resorts and territories.

“We want to challenge the candidates on the concerns of elected officials regarding the increasing constraints on the management and future of our communities. It is urgent to build an ambitious tourism policy to enable our mountain resorts to strengthen their attractiveness and thus continue to contribute to the prominence of our country worldwide and contribute to our national economy, with the 120,000 jobs and 9 billion euros in revenue they generate,” explains Charles-Ange Ginesy, President of the ANMSM.

The ANMSM has identified 8 major areas that could form the foundation of a national Mountain Plan, meeting the challenges:

1. Make tourism a national priority by establishing a dedicated Ministry of Tourism
2. Preserve the investment capacities of local authorities
3. Simplify and restore autonomy margins to mayors in terms of urban planning
4. Stimulate employment and strengthen public services: education, health…
5. Develop Smart Stations
6. Strengthen the winter season
7. Innovate for sustainable tourism all year round
8. Promote the French mountains in France and internationally
