It is funded by the General Council and operated by a prevention manager, a psychologist, and a sociologist coordinator of the French Mutual Insurance.

“Kefa?” a bus created by young people for young people

A genuine mobile prevention tool for addictive behaviors, the Youth Health Bus “Kefa?” travels the department to: establish a dialogue with middle school students about the risks related to the use of legal or illegal drugs, encourage their critical thinking and independence from peer pressure, work with teachers on a prevention program to sustain interventions with middle school students (following the National Education’s recommendations), and raise awareness among parents and families through conferences about high-risk behaviors.

A bus dressed in the colors of the “Kefa?” campaign

In 2010, the Young General Councillors conducted awareness and prevention operations on addictions: alcohol, drugs, and the internet. The originality of this truly expressive and innovative communication led the General Council to dress its Youth Health Bus in the colors of this campaign. A brochure to combat preconceived notions: alcohol makes you too strong, too beautiful!!!

This operation was enriched with a brochure produced in 50,000 copies. It provides well-advised tips to avoid the pitfalls of alcohol, drugs, and even cyber-addictions. Rich with testimonies, “true or false” questionnaires, it intends to be uncompromising, highlighting the risks associated with drugs: sexual abuse, alcoholic coma, accidents, and debunking false beliefs.

In 2009, the Health Information Bus reached no fewer than 4,300 students in 8th and 9th grades in 31 middle schools, with satisfaction ratings of 8.3/10 from the students and 9/10 from parents.

Alcohol, drugs, and the internet, the new dangers for young people
6 out of 10 young people aged 17 (60%) report having been drunk in their lifetime, 51% in the last twelve months, average age of first drunkenness is 15, and 11% of 15-24-year-olds in Europe claim to engage in binge drinking (consuming 5 or more drinks on a single occasion)*
