The renewal of the Moulins district in Nice

Latest News

The Moulins district is living in the rhythm of reconstruction. The urban renovation project continues. In 2013, the market square will come to life, with a profound transformation planned for 2015.

Renewal. That is the wish of the inhabitants of the Moulins. Tired of a neglected neighborhood, lacking dynamism and still plagued by delinquency, the population desires a more peaceful life in their neighborhood. Currently, the city coexists with the construction sites, breathes in the dust, and endures the noise of road rollers. But no matter, as long as the neighborhood modernizes.

In 2013, a covered market will rise in place of buildings 3 and 7, demolished this winter. The smell of asphalt will give way to the freshness of fruits and vegetables. To stimulate the sector and promote the autonomy of the neighborhood, a small grocery store will be built across from the market.

In a few years, an East-West axis will cross the Moulins to open up and no longer turn its back on the center of Nice. In addition to the development of its transportation networks, the project will facilitate the creation of jobs for young people experiencing the most difficulties. The companies carrying out the renovation work offer future jobs with the help of the Local Plan for Employment Inclusion. Together, the procedures are made easier while some young people remain unaware of them. The neighborhood aims to play a social role for its most disadvantaged residents.

The entire project will not be completed before 2015. A tram line will then serve the city for the benefit of the inhabitants, who are eager to see their neighborhood in a new light.
