Professor Emmanuel Barranger, General Director of the Antoine-Lacassagne Center, received the Legion of Honor. The ceremony was held at the Palace of the Kings of Sardinia in Nice.

On Thursday, December 5th, Professor Emmanuel Barranger was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor by Charles Ange Ginésy. Prefect Hugues Moutouh, local officials, and several figures from the medical world were present to honor the career of this eminent oncological surgeon and leader.

Strong testimonies marked the evening, illustrating the major role of this physician in the fight against cancer. Jacques Chevallet, a patient saved by Professor Barranger, delivered a poignant account: “I am fortunate to have crossed paths with Emmanuel Barranger. Saving and healing are missions ingrained in his being, not just during his working hours. This also explains his unwavering commitment to public hospitals.”

Charles Ange Ginésy emphasized the importance of his dedication: “In the fight against cancer, one of the most important battles of our century, some stand out for their remarkable commitment and selflessness. Professor Emmanuel Barranger is one of them. Professor Barranger has brilliantly met the challenges of the COVID crisis, the training of young doctors, leading a sound management of CAL.”

The career of Professor Barranger is rich in medical and academic responsibilities. A renowned oncological surgeon, he began in Paris before joining the Antoine-Lacassagne Center in 2013. Since 2019, as General Director, he strives to combine innovation, strategic management, and quality care.

His commitment goes beyond medical practice. Founder of the Mozart Institute, he embodies an integrated vision of the fight against cancer, while always placing patients at the center of his concerns. In his speech, he paid a heartfelt tribute, “to the patients, whose courage and resilience have deeply influenced my vision of care. I have always placed great importance on the values of humanism, solidarity, and cooperation in my professional commitment.”

Professor Barranger also acknowledged the role of mentors who have marked his path and reaffirmed his fidelity to the values of humanism and solidarity.
