Following the letter sent by Robert Injey (published on April 9) to the Mayor of Nice regarding the prohibition of a public meeting of the Left Front at the Mediterranean University Center, we received this clarification from Christian Estrosi himself. We are happy to publish it in the same spirit of pluralism and information transparency.
“It was never a question of prohibiting a public meeting of the Left Front. I respect this political party, and I have clearly communicated to its representatives that the city of Nice wishes for democratic exercise to be expressed under good conditions.
Three municipal halls have been granted to the Left Front for upcoming events, and I have requested that all arrangements be made for the services to respond favorably to their requests.
Regarding the Mediterranean University Center, the internal regulations stipulate that there cannot be events of a political nature.
Out of fairness, we responded negatively to all requests from legislative candidates as part of the official campaign, including those from candidates of my own political family.”
