“By asserting that the development project for the Ray lands will be financed by the private sector, the mayor of Nice made his ‘outing’ on a matter where he had previously been advancing in disguise,” deplores Patrick Mottard, the PRG general councilor of the 5th constituency of Nice.
Patrick Mottard fears that in Nice, the term private will once again mean “real estate developers.” “Giving them the keys to the neighborhood’s development is a sure way to see them do the opposite of what is desired by a population suffocated by the densification of Nice Nord.”
According to the local official, neighborhood committees, neighborhood councils, and ordinary citizens, in the context of the debate on the PLU (Local Urban Plan), have expressed a desire for room to breathe by requesting nearby sports and leisure facilities, green spaces, and public services.
