In 2015, Régie Ligne d’Azur initiated a cardiac arrest prevention effort by equipping tramway passenger stations with automated external defibrillators (AEDs) as part of the “Road Pros Have Heart” operation, in partnership with the Carcept Prev Corporate Foundation.
All tramway stations on line 1 will be equipped with defibrillators except for the “Masséna” station, which is located at a classified site overseen by the Architects of Buildings of France.
The “Garibaldi” and “Jean Médecin” stations will be the first to be equipped before the deployment throughout the entire line.
The goal, through this civic initiative, is to raise public awareness of lifesaving actions and cardiovascular risk prevention, to initiate first aid training, and to teach the use of automated external defibrillators.
Seven locations have been identified as strategic with regard to risk and/or the number of people concerned, including: the RLA bus center/Depots and workshops in Drap, the Tramway Operational Center in Nice, PCC and train Maintenance Workshops, IF-technical tramway teams – intervention vehicles, and the Notre-Dame commercial agency.
