Région PACA becomes Région SUD: new name, new logo

Latest News

Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, presented today at the Maison de la Région SUD, in Paris, the new brand identity of the SUD Region.

The President of the Region had announced this change which, at least according to his statements, seems of paramount importance.

For him: “With Région Sud, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur acquires a signature that reflects its true identity and attractiveness.”

The explanation follows…

With Région SUD, a registered trademark in 2017, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur acquires a signature that reflects its identity, its territory, its attractiveness. Its three world brands – Provence, Alpes, and Côte d’Azur – make it a unique region. The diversity of its landscapes, the richness of its culture, both Mediterranean and European, its legendary gentle way of life… are all assets of this exceptional territory. The major events, whether cultural, economic, or sporting, that take place there greatly contribute to its international reputation.

From its millennial history, the SUD Region has drawn dynamism and ambition to build a territory of excellence, promoting technological innovation, attractiveness to international investors, and a privileged place on the diplomatic scene in the Mediterranean.

Honestly, beyond this pompous tirade, it’s hard to see why the name change (in fact, it’s not since the official name of the Region has always been Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, for convenience PACA) with the simple addition of SUD would change the situation, in one way or another.

But if President Muselier thinks so, why contradict him?

Perhaps good Doctor Freud, if consulted, could explain the reason for such eagerness.
