Latest News

As per tradition, the 2018 Sports Caravan review press conference was held at the National Sports Museum.

In attendance, notably, was Philippe Manassero, President of CDOS 06, who organizes this event.

It was an opportunity to detail the 27 stages set up across the Alpes-Maritimes region since the beginning of the year, during which 6,792 participants were registered, which is 147 fewer people than last year. “Let us not forget the severe heatwave that affected the region this summer, which may have dampened the enthusiasm of some parents. Some activities were even canceled due to health concerns,” explained Philippe Manassero, President of CDOS06.

In total, no less than 12 coastal cities, 10 from the midland, as well as 7 cities from the hinterland, benefited from this major sporting event. On average, 17 disciplines per stage, with 66% of participants aged between 4 and 8 years. 57% boys, 43% girls, covering 2,138 km throughout the Alpes-Maritimes.

The sports caravan also implemented numerous civic actions this year:

  • learning life-saving techniques with the SDIS06 firefighters with the issuance of an awareness certificate.
  • recycling with CARF
  • visits to the National Sports Museum
  • organizing outings for children from the Secours Populaire.

The “Paris 2024” game, a workshop set up with several stages aimed at playfully raising youth awareness about the organization of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. “We wanted to demonstrate that the game is not only a source of pleasure, but also a way to convey values.”

In total, the sports caravan (6,792 participants) combined with the Olympic days (1,606 participants) gathered 8,398 people. A figure on the rise, and a motivating result for the future. Philippe Manassero also wished to thank all the collaborators and volunteers who implemented the project.
