Imagined over an entire year by the architecture agency PCA-STREAM, founded by Philippe Chiambaretta, alongside multi-disciplinary specialists, the Stream Building, competing in the innovative urban projects call “Reinventing Paris,” is among the winners. It is a building that reinvents itself by becoming a true platform of life for its residents.

Located at the foot of the Paris Court of First Instance tower in the 17th arrondissement, the Stream Building, imagined and constructed by the PCA-STREAM agency, is a concentration of all the research conducted by the agency. Its unique layout allows the spaces of its various floors to constantly evolve, providing them with diverse and varied functions. Offices for work, fully equipped and arranged hotel rooms: this building is capable of offering everything a person might need to live. Floors even house shops, leisure and rest areas, as well as spaces for exchange and co-working. The ambition of the Stream Building is simple: to be a true platform of life, 24/7.

This building reproduces in a closed space the urban connections found throughout the capital. It selects the different needs of individuals to integrate them into the very architecture of the site. Startups or SMEs can easily temporarily settle in the building’s premises, offering everything the employees need. To conclude the presentation of this innovative urban project, a winner of “Reinventing Paris,” the Stream Building stems from the will of the PCA-STREAM architecture agency to invent new innovative layout methods, providing a new interpretation of the functions a building should fulfill. Its design itself is original, as it results from a collaboration of researchers and a “collaborative intelligence,” according to the agency.

A philosophy serving the well-being of the metropolis and its inhabitants
This building has managed to captivate and win the “Reinventing Paris” project call and is also among the few whose work will soon be completed. The requirements stated at the beginning of the project call pushed Philippe Chiambaretta and his teams to innovate by finding groundbreaking technical solutions in the architecture sector – such as the total reversibility of the building’s functions.

Indeed, with its programming that can constantly evolve, this building breaks the codes and opens up a range of possibilities for new ways to use a building’s walls. An innovation that echoes the need for flexibility in a constantly changing capital.
