Review of a press that slips on France 2

Latest News

William Leymergie, quite astute and experienced, already announces: “Oh, what are you saying!”. Then he gives a warning to the viewers from Nice: “Do not write and let the mayor of Nice respond…”

No one knows if the Mayor wrote, if he is even aware, but it is regrettable that on a national broadcast at prime time (Télématin being broadcast worldwide through TV5…) such nonsense can be said.

Respecting this rather well-conducted press review, one cannot, as someone from Nice, help but feel extremely disappointed by such a comparison. Is this the image Parisians have of Nice? There have indeed been mistakes in the past, but no more than in the Parisian suburbs or in La Courneuve. Nice is certainly not as ugly as that American beach.

Must the national press always denigrate our department and our region? Nice, in the midst of renovating the tramway, which will open its streets to modern art, is currently suffering perhaps, but to enjoy such a comparison is quite something. It concerns our image on French territory, an image unfortunately quite degraded in France while glowing abroad. It seems there remains “up there” despite global warming, a bitterness, a jealousy towards this Côte d’Azur which still arouses their desire just as much.

Absolutely Thierry, isn’t it?
