As every month, Skal International Côte d’Azur organized its evening, this time to celebrate the return of spring. The program included speeches, inductions of new members, and cocktails.
First, what is Skal International? Well, Skal International was established in 1933 with an initial group of 31 founding members from Menton, Monaco, Nice, and Cannes. It is essentially an association that allows tourism professionals to have a business network within this sector. Skal encompasses 315 clubs worldwide, has 12,500 members, and is present in 100 countries.
The Skal Côte d’Azur, also born in 1933, is the largest club in the world with 204 members, surpassing the club of New Delhi, which has 202 members. Its main objective is to boost the touristic attractiveness of the Côte d’Azur through efficient and friendly exchanges among professionals. Lunches and dinners preceded by networking or speed business events are organized, during which Skal members create business connections and expand their knowledge of the sector.
How did the evening go?
The monthly evening of Skal International Côte d’Azur began under the rain. Nicole Martin, who has been president of the association since September 2018, hosted the event at the Royal Hotel. The evening was an occasion to welcome its members for “doing business among friends,” as the association’s slogan highlights.
The evening also provided an opportunity for new members to be inducted by Nicole Martin and their sponsors. Four new members were welcomed: Pier Tognazzini from company Moovert, Laetitia Sommer from Hotel des Arcades in Valbonne, Frank Fuseau, general manager of the Royal Hotel, and Romain Guglielmi from Skal Young.
But what is Skal Young?
Skal also caters to students with its branch known as Skal Young. Skal Young is the category of the Skal International organization aimed at students and young professionals in the tourism industry. It provides an opportunity for young people to network and prepare for their future careers in the best possible way. They also have the chance to share their fresh perspectives with their more experienced counterparts, which provides a promising outlook for the future of this association. It is also an opportunity for them to meet tourism professionals who might offer them immersion days, internships, and future employment opportunities.
